DESCRIPTION:
This home and wood working workshop is located on 60 acres of land, 30miles from a limestone quarry. The home is carved out of the side of a hill, and looks over a gently sloping hillside of wildflowers, and pasture. Entry to both the home (on the upper level), and the workshop (on the lower level), takes place on the carved portion of the eastern hillside, and is defined by large boulders that gradually transition to cut limestone block walls. These walls actually carry into the home, and define the foyer, and the main circulation corridor. Where the wall ends, a large, open expanse of glass and wood takes its place. This simple, open plan kitchen/dining/living zone sits here, overlooking landscaped wildflowers and pastureland. On the North end of this open space, is the master suite, and on the Southern end, the guest suites. Lower level woodworking studio can be accessed directly from the outside, or from a stair off the main living space.
