PROJECTS: Toy Collector's Loft
LOCATION: New York, NY
SIZE: 4,300 sq ft
SCOPE: Architecture, Interior Design
STATUS: Under Construction
DESCRIPTION:
Two floor-through upper levels and an exterior roof deck of an old brick building on the Bowery is re-imagined to create a clean, simple living space for 2 kids, their Mom, and Dad and his 3,000 toys. The goal is to create a space that will allow Dad to curate his collection of rare and vintage toys, and to store the rest out of site, and out from underfoot. The upper level is nearly 60' in length, therefore a stairwell and skylight have been introduced at the center to provide circulation and natural light to both levels. The stairwell is also where the toy collection is stored (in, around, and underneath), while being displayed through sliding and rotating millwork panels that define the stairwell walls.
